Is Thousandaires The New Best Show on the Internet?

Is Thousandaires The New Best Show on the Internet?

Earlier this week, the hit streaming service Dropout released their new show Thousandaires and I can say with a hearty chuckle that this could possibly be a show that rivals that of Game Changer or Make Some Noise.

What is Thousandaires About?

In summary, Thousandaires is about a rotating cast of four comedians who are given $1,000 each and are told to do whatever they want to convince the rotating host to give them a prize worth a thousand dollars at the end of the show. The comedians can buy things directed at their cohorts to show them a good time, use it selfishly for any reason they desire, or put their imagination to the test and craft something only they could think of.

Episode 1 of Thousandaires

To introduce the show, a hearty cast of DropOut’s favorite comedians sat on the couch together and spend @Samreich’s money.

Host

As mentioned previously, the host is a rotating figure on the show whose only job is to enjoy the spoils of the casts purchases and decide who wins the prize at the end of the show.

Jacquis Neal

Jacquis Neal was a writer turned returning cast member and has been featured on a number of successful Dropout shows. This time he was chosen to be the first-ever host for the premier of the series.

Overall, I think Jacquis did a great job paving the way for future hosts. He was funny, kept things on track, and wasn’t afraid to join in the fun without putting the spotlight on himself. I cracked up when I saw the present he chose to give the winner of the episode, and while I won’t spoil it here, I recommend watching and seeing everyone’s reactions for your own.

Cast

The first four comedians who joined in for the premiere of Thousandaires were some of Dropout’s funniest comedians. If you think that you know what the next person bought to show the others, think again, lay back, and enjoy the show. We certainly did.

MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD FOR JIAVANI’S AND JACOB’S SECTION

Jiavani

Being introduced in Dropout’s show Play It By Ear, an improv musical production that hasn’t received a third season as of yet but absolutely should, Jiavani has popped up across multiple shows and chose to spend their money on a huge dress for them and their friends to jump into together. The crew would then go under the skirt together and the skit would feature a cameo from Brennan Lee Mulligan himself.

Jiavani’s choice for Loud, Fast, Heavy, Faster, Big Nuts

Lisa Gilroy

Lisa Gilroy is quickly becoming one of the reasons that I am coming back to Dropout TV. They are unapologetically themselves and hilarious. Lisa can be on shows like Very Imporant People as Vic’s Ex Step-Grandmother, an actress on Jury Duty, and an overall funny comedian.

While their appearances on the show aren’t as frequent as the others, if I see Lisa on the thumbnail, I find myself more excited to see what antics she’ll be up to on the show as she is truly unpredictable.

Vic Michaelis

Vic Michaelis has come off of a hot show themself with their hit show Very Important People that we covered in Very Important People: Dropout’s New (and Hilarious) Improv Show. Vic is on their way to being a very important member of the streaming service and once you watch them once, you are sure to agree.

Jacob Wysocki

Jacob Wysocki, my personal favorite comedian on this episode, is consistently killing it in every episode that he is apart of. This one is no different.

Jacob Wysocki decided to team up with a local punk rock band to learn how to stick it to the man (watch out @Samreich) and perform a solo rock performance for his friends to enjoy. With a nice grain filter and awesome vocals, I was cracking up at the commitment to the bit and wished that there was more. We here at Knight’s Digest think you have a career in rock, good sir.

Is Thousaindaires Any Good?

While I can’t speak for every future episode of Thousandaires, what I can say is that my brother and I had our expectations blown out of the water. I can not underscore enough that the trailer does not do the show service. If I had to rip a rating out of either, I would give it a solid 8.75/10. It had some bumps that will be smoothed out as production goes forward, but it was a delightful surprise to add this show to my watchlist.
